Does your imagination go beyond the limits of science and arts? Do you think in terms of projects rather than classes? If so, iArts is the answer. iArts stands for interdisciplinary Arts, an intensive international three-year Bachelor’s programme for the creative and intelligent multitalented. It builds bridges between the arts, sciences, society and entrepreneurship. This hybrid is a joint initiative of the Maastricht Academy of Performing Arts, the Maastricht Academy of Music, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University and Van Eyck. The programme is an exciting cross-over of artistic skills, academic reflection, research and entrepreneurship. They are connected in projects and seminars with a strong focus on today’s societal issues. This makes iArts the first bachelor’s programme in the Netherlands to link interdisciplinarity in the arts to academic scholarship and partners outside of the academy. Projects The iArts programme is a 4 year bachelor’s programme within 3 years. This means it is a very intense, high-density programme. In the course of the programme you’ll work on a series of projects. You’ll invent creative and original solutions for current social and cultural issues, in the form of artistic products or artful interventions. Think installations, films, performances, and games. Think meetings, publications, plans, and enterprises. Each and every intervention will be the result of interdisciplinary teamwork. Your teachers are experts in their fields and have experience with interdisciplinary encounters. The study programme is built up around four domains; Arts & Society, Arts & Science, Arts & Entrepreneurship and Arts & Culture. The blocks are projects connected to domains, which are organized together with different partners in the world from the Arts, Sciences and Society. Next to fulfill these projects there will be courses with theory and the methods and techniques to become a ‘critical engaged artist’. The theory will be based upon art history, contemporary art theory, philosophy, marketing, management, creative writing, art and communication. Baseline In addition to the projects, the curriculum consists of a baseline: an in-depth programme with attention for theory, skills training and reflection. In theory education, disciplines such as art history, art analysis, dramaturgy, philosophy, text analysis and sociology are drawn on in order to explore specific themes addressed in project education in more depth. Examples of skills training are singing, design skills and Multi Media training. Focus During the programme, you’ll further develop your own direction of artistic and intellectual growth. Contemporary theatre signals that the programme will deal largely with current and emergent modes of theatrical production and reception. This programme will seek to articulate the contemporary, varied and ever-changing roles of theatre and its practitioners in society. The idea of a working in a pro-social manner in theatre will also be core to this programme. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Art Restoration and Conservation Studies while attending university in Florence, Italy is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Florence, Italy is the cradle of Renaissance civilization - the place where Dante, Brunelleschi, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci were inspired to create. Today Florence, Italy remains home to some the greatest works of art the world has ever known. The Marist College Conservation Studies and Art Restoration Bachelor’s degree program gives undergraduate students the opportunity to learn to care for and restore these invaluable pieces of history. The Marist College Art Restoration and Conservation Studies B.S. program offers a rich educational experience in the field of art conservation and the history of techniques. Our Art Restoration and Conservation undergraduate students will work directly and exclusively on original materials from the 14th to 19th centuries. These opportunities are provided by religious, state, or even private institutions including the City of Florence, Italy Fine Art Department, and are carried out under the direction of the Soprintendenza per i Beni Artistici. While at university, Art Restoration and Conservation Studies Bachelor's degree students have the privilege of working on objects ranging from paintings, frescoes, and wood sculpture from the medieval period through to the 19th century.
