Introduction
Bachelor in Civil Engineering
Let’s build the future together!
Accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education, the Bachelor entitled “Structural Engineering” is a 4-year undergraduate program, with teaching and examinations entirely in English or French.
Organised within the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages (F.I.L.S.) of the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (U.T.C.B.) since the early90s, the Bachelor's contains 8 semesters with an associated total number of 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
The bachelors are opened to Romanian and foreign bachelor graduates. They also accommodates Erasmus+ exchange students. U.T.C.B. has 67 Erasmus+ agreements with universities from 17 countries. For the academic year 2016-2017 over 20 Erasmus students from France, Spain and Greece already registered to follow lectures in our faculty (bachelor or master).
The same bachelor program is provided at F.I.L.S. with teaching and examinations in English or in the French language. Exchange students can benefit from this, being allowed to select lectures in both languages and consequently they can develop their foreign languages skills.
The bachelors provide earthquake resistant design concepts and applications are also included in almost all lectures and projects, Romania being an earthquake-prone country with a long tradition and experience in earthquake engineering.
The bachelors benefit of the activities within U.T.C.B.’s Seismic Risk Assessment Research Center (C.E.R.S.), an important number of the teaching staff being C.E.R.S. members.
With small groups of students and a close contact with the teaching staff, with a remarkable international environment (within F.I.L.S. there are enrolled students from 21 countries, plus Erasmus students), the bachelors of Civil Engineering at F.I.L.S.-U.T.C.B. are an excellent choice for students aiming to an international career in the construction industry.
Francophonie is a strong asset of U.T.C.B. Member of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (A.U.F.) from 1995, U.T.C.B. accommodates a French lecturer (within a convention with A.U.F. and French Embassy), a French library, a Centre de reussite universitaire (C.R.U.), and organizes and participates to a lot of francophone activities. The two bachelors programs also accommodate incoming professors within Erasmus+.
Studying at F.I.L.S.-U.T.C.B. will also allow you to discover the dynamic student’s life in Bucharest and to enjoy the beauty of Romania.
After graduation, one can continue with master studies: Structural engineering (with teaching in English or in French).
U.T.C.B. and Liege University (Belgium) have signed a double-diploma agreement at master level. At U.T.C.B., the F.I.L.S. masters of Structural engineering, in English and in French, are part of the agreement.
U.T.C.B. graduates who are selected for the double-diploma agreement with Ecole nationale des ponts et chausees (Ponts ParisTech) can enroll in the Masters of Structural Engineering (in English or in French) that are part of the agreement.

Romanian and EU students must make a request to have a place in student’s dormitory during the registration for admission.
