BSc in Oral Health Science

Students will be trained to undertake a number of clinical procedures, such as periodontal treatment, simple fillings, dental radiographs and the extraction of primary teeth. They will also develop excellent communication skills to motivate and encourage patients to develop good oral health practices.

This undergraduate programme has been developed to give students the skills they need to become dental therapists or dental hygienists, and helps provide a holistic approach to primary dental care.

Career opportunities


Dental therapists and hygienists can work in all sectors of dentistry including private practice, the NHS and the armed forces. Employment prospects are extremely good with graduate employment rates of 100%.
